Founding
The founder is Anna Kosei, an architect, at the studio since that year. The studio is at Quai des Charbonnages 12, 1080 Brussels, Belgium. Eight people work here. The door is open Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. A first meeting is by appointment. We did not grow by collecting offices in other cities. The published buildings are elsewhere, because that is where the sites were: Ostend, Leuven, Ghent, and Namur.
The practice stayed in Brussels. Founding, for us, is that year, that address, and that table. We do not tell a longer origin story. There is no prize list and no press list. The early work of the studio is the method you can still see: a question, a model, then a building people use. Rui Almeida joined as partner and architect in 2011. The other six people came in the years printed on the studio page, from 2014 through 2020.
01
Method
The method has four stages. Brief and site visit, 2 weeks. Sketch design, 6 to 8 weeks, with plans, sections, a model at 1:100, and a cost estimate. Permit drawings, 10 to 12 weeks, with the full permit set, consultants coordinated, and submission. Construction, per the contract, with site meetings and a handover file when full service is hired. Full service is 9 % of the build cost. We draw slowly so buildings can be used for a long time. Every project starts with a question, not a style.
The line we put on the first page is the method in one breath: from a model on the table to buildings in use. The model of Harbour Workshops, at 1:50, is the clearest picture of that. A logistics firm needed 180 desks. The model sat on the table. The warehouse kept its steel frame. The floor has been in use since 2023. The same order applies to housing and to renovation. We do not skip the question because a site is attractive.

Values
We can point to a few values because the work already shows them. We would rather start from the question than from a style. We would rather draw slowly if that helps a building stay in use. We would rather say the fee before we draw a line, which is why the price list is public, in euro, excluding VAT, with no hidden fourth column. We would rather keep a sound structure when the brief allows it. At Harbour Workshops the steel frame of the 1960s warehouse stayed. At Old Mill studios a flour mill became 14 workshops instead of being wiped clear.
We would rather show a model than talk in adjectives. We do not hold these up as a certificate. We do not promise a permit, a build cost, a completion date, or a copy of an older result. Daylight at every desk in Ostend is a result from that office. It is not a moral claim about every room we will ever draw. Eight people, one table, is a working arrangement, not a slogan we need to stretch.

Anna Kosei
Anna Kosei founded Kosei Architects in 2008 and still works as an architect in the studio. The portrait on this page shows her by a window in the studio, holding a piece of a model. That is the public picture: a person at the table, not a biography of schools and earlier firms. She has been here since 2008. The partner beside her in the practice is Rui Almeida, here since 2011. The other people are Lieve Maes, Samuel Okafor, Clara Vogt, Yusuf Demir, Inès Laurent, and Mei Tan. Their roles and years are on the studio page.
Anna’s part of the method is the part the studio still repeats. Start with the question. Put a model on the table. Draw so the building can be used for a long time. Take the first meeting yourself when that is what the brief needs. The meeting is 60 minutes, free, at Quai des Charbonnages 12 or on the site, and it produces a written note. Phone the studio on +32 2 555 01 84 during open hours.

First meeting
A first meeting is free: 60 minutes at the studio or on site, and a written note of the brief.
