The Hairdressing Diploma

The 12-month Hairdressing Diploma is our primary full-time training pathway for aspiring salon juniors, running 30 hours per week at our Lindmoor campus. Students master core cutting systems, chemical colour placement, hair biology, and live client floor management.

Curriculum and Core Modules

The diploma curriculum is structured around five core training modules delivered over 12 months. Students begin with fundamental scissor work and geometry, mastering blunt bobs, graduation, and long layers before advancing into modern texturising. The colour and chemistry module covers formulation, scalp protection, foil placement, and corrective treatments.

In the hair biology module, learners study follicle structure, scalp health, and sanitisation standards. The salon floor module introduces customer consultation, time management, and client retention. Finally, business basics teaches retail inventory, daily appointment booking, and portfolio preparation, ensuring students understand both technical salon work and essential workplace operations.

02

Weekly Schedule and Assessment

Students attend training Monday to Friday from 08:45 to 17:00, completing thirty practical hours each week. Every day opens with a live tutor demonstration, followed by deliberate repetition on mannequin blocks and client appointments in the Student Salon.

Assessment is ongoing and practical rather than test-based. Instructors assess manual precision, hygiene, consultation clarity, and execution speed through continuous technical milestones. Trainees must successfully pass internal practical assessments on mannequin blocks before receiving clearance to perform chemical colour or structural cutting services on paying public clients under our 1:7 supervision ratio.
