Learn
by hand
Who the intake is for
Hands first, theory alongside
We welcome applicants from age 16 with no prior salon experience who want to learn hairdressing, barbering and beauty craft through focused daily practice. Our training is designed for future salon juniors who value technical discipline, patient repetition and real salon experience from the first week of study.
Rather than observing from a lecture seat, you begin at a styling station. Cohorts are capped at fourteen students to keep instructors close, at a 1:7 floor ratio, so every scissor stroke, sectioning angle and colour application is guided by hand.

A Training Day
Every morning begins with an instructor demonstrating core cutting, styling or colour techniques to a semicircle of students before mannequin practice starts on the salon floor.
Hour by hour
08:45
Floor opens & set-up
Students arrive, sanitise styling stations, inspect tool rolls and prepare mannequin blocks for the morning session.
09:00
Demonstration
Instructors deliver step-by-step demonstrations in precision haircutting, colour application or barbering technique.
10:15
Block practice on mannequins
Students repeat what they have seen on mannequin blocks, with one-on-one correction from the instructor at the elbow.

12:30
Lunch
A midday break in the common room before the Student Salon opens its doors to the public.
13:30
Student Salon with real clients
Supervised appointments with the public on the salon floor, at a 1:7 instructor-to-student ratio.

16:15
Critique & clean-down
A group review of the day’s work, individual technical feedback and full workstation sanitation before closing at 17:00.

Six ways in
Our core curriculum offers full-time foundations: the 12-month Hairdressing Diploma, the 6-month Barbering Certificate and the 4-month Makeup Artistry Certificate. For specialised study or a first taste, there are the 3-month Nail Technology Certificate, the 10-week Evening Colour Course and a monthly one-day Taster Saturday.

Taught by working stylists
All technical modules at Kesho College are led by working stylists and craft leads who keep an active chair outside college hours. Instruction focuses on muscle memory, ergonomic posture and commercial standards rather than abstract theory.
