Admissions

Kanade International School welcomes children aged 4 to 18, from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school teaches in English and has 640 students from about 40 nationalities on one campus in Lisbon. Principal entry points are August and January. When a place is free at another point in the year, applications are read on a rolling basis. A child does not need to arrive already fluent in English. Lessons are in English, students keep a home language, and Portuguese begins in Kindergarten. Families who are new to the city and families already living here follow the same five steps. The first reply comes from the admissions office within two school days of an enquiry.

Office hours for these conversations are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 16:30.

Open mornings are on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:00. The next three dates are Tuesday 10 November 2026, Tuesday 12 January 2027 and Tuesday 9 February 2027. Each morning is a walk through the campus with time for questions about entry, languages and the shape of the school day. Arrival for the school day itself is 8:20, lessons run from 8:30 to 15:20, and activities continue until 16:30. An open morning is shorter than a school day and is the usual way to visit before applying. A private tour is possible when these Tuesdays do not suit. A complete application has two things the school asks for at that step: previous school reports, and the application fee of €250. The fee is one-time and non-refundable. Reports let the school read the child’s recent schooling before the assessment and the family meeting, which follow within ten school days of a complete file. There is no separate document charge. Kindergarten applicants who have not yet attended school should say so in the enquiry, and the admissions office will explain what to send instead of reports. After an offer, the enrolment deposit of €2,000 confirms the place and is credited to the final term.
