The pontoons

Pontoon A

Pontoon A is the first finger pontoon on the North Quay. It holds 36 finger berths for boats up to 7.5 m, with 2.0 m of water at low water. Each berth has water and 16A power. The morning round reaches A at 06:40, after the fuel berth, and the lines are looked at one cleat at a time before the walk continues. A season berth on A runs from 1 April to 31 October and is €1,680, VAT included. Tomas Reyes, dockmaster, allocates the berth and walks it with you before anything is signed. Boats on A sit close, so a fair lead and a clear pontoon matter as much as the length on the agreement.

  • 36 finger berths
  • Boats up to 7.5 m
  • 2.0 m at low water
  • Water and 16A power
  • €1,680 a season

Pontoon B

Pontoon B holds 28 finger berths for boats from 7.5 m to 10 m. Depth at low water is 2.4 m. Water and 16A power are on the berth, as they are on A and on C. The season price is €2,340, VAT included, for 1 April to 31 October. The morning round leaves A and comes along B while the quay is still quiet, then goes on to C. Ines Marlow notes anything that has shifted overnight and leaves the pontoon as she found it, lines made up and the walkway clear. If you are new to B, the walk with Tomas is the time to see the cleat, the neighbour’s lead and the depth at low water, not only the number on the plan.

Pontoon C

Pontoon C is the longest-boat finger on the quay: 14 berths for boats from 10 m to 12 m, with 3.0 m at low water. Water and 16A power are fitted, and the season price is €3,120, VAT included. The round reaches C after B and before the outer moorings. These berths take the larger boats that still belong in a small marina, and the walk is slower here because the leads are longer. A request for C is handled in the same way as a request for A or B: from 10 January, with Ada Okonkwo in the office, then a walk on the pontoon with Tomas before the season is signed.

Swing moorings

Beyond the three pontoons, the outer basin holds 22 swing moorings for boats up to 9 m. Depth at low water is 3.5 m. The season price is €960, VAT included. The morning round ends here, about 50 minutes after it starts at the fuel berth at 06:30. Water and 16A power are on pontoons A, B and C; the swing moorings are a different kind of berth, and the published offer is the mooring itself through the season. Together the pontoons and the moorings are the marina’s 100 berths. Mei Lin Choi makes the evening check at 21:00, including the outer basin, after the office has closed.

Berth sizes

The sizes below are the ones used for allocation and for the season fee. Pontoon A: 36 berths, up to 7.5 m, 2.0 m at low water. Pontoon B: 28 berths, 7.5–10 m, 2.4 m at low water. Pontoon C: 14 berths, 10–12 m, 3.0 m at low water. Swing moorings in the outer basin: 22 berths, up to 9 m, 3.5 m at low water. That is 100 berths. Season fees, VAT included, are €1,680 on A, €2,340 on B, €3,120 on C and €960 on a swing mooring. Visitor nights, winter ashore and the lift are priced separately. Depths are at low water, and the right pontoon is agreed when you walk the berth, not from length alone.
