About Us
Founded in 2019, Hatake Greens connects local farmland directly with city kitchen counters through a disciplined same-day harvest routine. We operate from our central packing barn in Wren Valley, keeping the agricultural supply chain intentionally short.
Founded in 2019 at 14 Orchard Lane
Hatake Greens was founded in 2019 by Ines Calder and Tomas Achebe to create a direct link between regional farms and urban kitchens. Operating from our packing barn at 14 Orchard Lane in Wren Valley, we set out to eliminate the long storage times, wholesale warehouses, and excessive packaging typical of modern food supply chains. By establishing reliable weekly memberships, we provide local growers with steady demand while giving city households vegetables picked at peak morning vitality.
Why a Short Crate is a Full Week
We believe that a short crate is a full week. Instead of overwhelming households with dozens of random items that spoil in the crisper drawer, our standard crate provides nine carefully balanced kinds of vegetables and greens, weighing approximately 4.5 kilograms. Sourced exclusively from six partner farms within sixty kilometres, this curated selection gives two to four people exactly what they need for dependable home cooking, entirely free of food waste and unneeded excess.

A short crate is a full week.
The Team and Barn Operations
Our daily operations depend on a close-knit, dedicated team. Co-founder Ines Calder leads grower relations, collaborating closely with farmers like Hana Moreau, Rafael Ortiz, Priya Nair, and Kwame Mensah. Co-founder Tomas Achebe oversees barn operations at 14 Orchard Lane, guiding the washing and packing crew from 5:00 to 9:00 on harvest mornings. Delivery lead Lena Sorensen directs afternoon van routes across our twelve city neighbourhoods, while our member desk supports subscribers Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00.
