A kilometre of street trees
Fraser Street renewal planted a civic street in Metro Vancouver in 2025. The scope was 1.2 km and 112 street trees, set along a renewed street with a planted median. Weeks 1–2 were the site survey. The crew measured pits along the length, not a single forecourt, and the count of 112 came from that measuring. Weeks 3–5 were the planting plan. Hana Mori-Ellis wrote it to the company policies: 60% native or adapted species, and 80% of planting stock grown within 150 km.
Weeks 6–8 were ground preparation along the median and the pits. Weeks 9–11 were planting. Tom Okafor’s crew set the trees. Each street tree was planted with a guard, in the way our street-tree work is specified. Priya Raman checked stake and clearance as the pits were closed. The length stayed 1.2 km.
Establishment after 24 months
Week 12 was the handover walk down the planted street. Samuel Quist then coordinated seasonal aftercare for 24 months, including the 2 seasons of watering that belong with street trees. Priya Raman recorded establishment at the end of that period. The case record shows 109 of 112 street trees established after 24 months.
The three trees outside the count stay inside the same record. We state 109 of 112, not a rounded claim and not a forecast for the next kilometre. Fraser Street is the longest of the three jobs we show: a college forecourt in 2024, a hospital in 2023, and this 1.2 km street in 2025. The sequence of stages did not change because the site was a street. Survey, plan, preparation, planting, handover, aftercare.
