Three workers planting a young street tree on a pale campus forecourt

Green thatkeeps a cityworking.

Planting, paving edges and aftercare for campuses, hospitals and civic streets across Metro Vancouver since 2009. We survey the site, set the planting plan, and stay for the 24 months of aftercare that follow handover.

Who we plant for

Daichi Landscapes plants and maintains grounds for campuses, hospitals and civic streets across Metro Vancouver. The work is the ordinary infrastructure of a city: street trees on a new forecourt, courtyard beds a hospital can use, and paving edges that meet the soil cleanly. We have done this from our yard on Mill Creek Road since 2009.

Facilities teams call when a site has to stay open while the planting goes in. Hana Mori-Ellis sets the landscape plan and Marcus Delgado runs the crew from the Vancouver yard. A site survey and planting plan starts at $1,200. Every planting contract includes 24 months of aftercare, with seasonal visits from $420.

What we do

Services

Four lines of work cover most contracts. Prices are in CAD and start at the figures below. A site survey and planting plan, from $1,200, sits in front of any of them, and winter pruning is available at $1,950 per day for a crew of three.

01

Tree and street planting

We plant young street trees in pits along civic streets and campus forecourts, set the guard, and water them for two seasons. The Fraser Street renewal in 2025 placed 112 street trees along 1.2 km. Street tree planting starts at $680 per tree, including the guard and two seasons of watering. Priya Raman specifies the tree and the pit; Tom Okafor’s crew does the planting.

02

Campus grounds

Monthly maintenance covers campus grounds up to 2 ha: mowing edges, beds, young trees and the paving line where people walk. Northshore College’s 2024 forecourt, 64 trees and 1,800 m² of planting, is the scale of campus work we plan for. Campus grounds maintenance starts at $3,400 per month.

03

Green roofs and planters

Elise Brandt’s crew installs planters and green-roof beds on low buildings, including irrigation in the soil. The work is priced by area so a facilities team can match it to the roof they have. Green roof and planter installation starts at $145 per m².

04

Seasonal aftercare

After the week-12 handover walk, Samuel Quist schedules return visits for 24 months. Each seasonal aftercare visit starts at $420. The visits cover watering, establishment checks and the seasonal tasks written into the planting contract.

Process

From survey to aftercare

A planting contract runs in six stages. The ranges below are the weeks we book for a typical campus, hospital or street job, followed by 24 months of aftercare.

Wide civic street with a row of newly planted trees

Week 1–2

Site survey

Two surveyors measure the tree pits, paving edges and access, and note the trees already on the site. You receive the measured base the planting plan is drawn on.

Week 3–5

Planting plan

The plan names species, sizes and positions. It keeps 60% native or adapted species, and 80% of the stock is grown within 150 km. The plan is the document priced from $1,200 together with the survey.

Week 6–8

Ground preparation

Crews open pits and beds, place soil and lay drip irrigation where the plan calls for it. Paths and entries the campus or hospital needs each day stay open.

Week 9–11

Planting

Trees, guards and planters go in. Street trees include a guard and two seasons of watering, from $680 per tree. The crew briefs each morning before leaving the yard.

Week 12

Handover walk

We walk the finished ground with you and list what the aftercare crew will watch. That list is the start of the establishment record.

24 months

Seasonal aftercare

Visits run from $420 each through two years. Winter pruning, when the plan includes it, is a crew of three at $1,950 per day.

We planted three courtyards and a sensory garden, and kept the entries in use while the beds went in. After 24 months, 3 of the 3 courtyards were established. Grasses, benches and the garden sit in the maintained courts.

Renewed city street with a planted median and young trees

A civic street client in Vancouver, 2025

Fraser Street renewal

The contract covered 1.2 km and 112 street trees, with guards and a planted median. After 24 months, 109 of the 112 trees were established. Street tree planting on the job included two seasons of watering.

Policy

Commitments

Three figures govern every planting plan. We grow 80% of planting stock within 150 km. Aftercare runs 24 months on every planting contract, and the ring is full because the term is the whole contract. Each plan specifies 60% native or adapted species. These are company policy, counted the same way on every job.
