Take your time

Every voice finds its words at its own pace.

At Hibiki Speech, we offer a calm, unhurried space where children and adults can build speech confidence without feeling rushed. Founded in 2014 by Ines Halvorsen, our clinic is arranged at floor and table level with natural light, low oak tables, and open room to think. We believe that communication develops best when people feel completely at ease.

Rather than cycling through rotating staff, each client works with one dedicated therapist from their first appointment through their complete block of sessions. Whether supporting a toddler finding their first words or an adult rebuilding speech after a stroke, we listen carefully before practice begins.

WHEN WORDS GET STUCK

It is hard to watch someone search for a word.

When communication becomes an effort, everyday routines at home, school, or work can feel exhausting. Whether words are slow to emerge in childhood or suddenly disrupted in adulthood, recognising the difficulty is the first step toward finding relief.

Your two-year-old points instead of naming.

Your child is understood at home but not at nursery.

Words that came easily before a stroke now hide.

A stammer is making class presentations dreadful.

Listen

We watch how each person talks when they are completely at ease before beginning any formal evaluation. Taking time to listen first helps us understand their natural rhythm and real communication needs.

Practise

Every 45-minute session is led by the same dedicated therapist, using practical games, mirror exercises, and real tasks. We work without rushing, ensuring that every exercise feels purposeful and unhurried.

Carry it home

Lasting progress happens in everyday life between appointments. We provide a straightforward 10-minute daily practice card so clients and families can easily reinforce new speech habits at home.

IN THEIR CASE

Margaret, 68 — word-finding after a stroke

In Margaret’s case, routine conversations had become hesitant after a stroke, leaving familiar words just out of reach. Over two blocks of therapy with Mateo Lindqvist, she practiced naming strategies using personal photographs from her family album rather than generic exercises, working in a calm setting at her own pace.

Gradually, Margaret rebuilt her fluency and confidence in finding the right words. Today, she participates easily in family conversations and enjoys reading bedtime stories aloud to her grandchildren every Sunday.

Leo, 4 — late talker

After an initial assessment and an eight-session block with Ines, Leo used simple picture-card routines to begin asking for things in short sentences at nursery.

Sami, 15 — stammer

Through an eight-session block with Amara, Sami practiced speech techniques for classroom presentations and chose to deliver his history talk independently.

Elena, 34 — teacher

Experiencing hoarseness by Friday afternoons, Elena completed a six-session voice care course with Mina, learning how to project comfortably in a noisy classroom.
