Notes from the counter

The journal is where we write down a choice that already happened, without turning it into a larger claim. The notes stay inside the shop, the six papers and the people who came in. Two envelopes at the window is Noor in Ghent, with Soft Wove and Plain Envelopes. A thesis on Everyday Bond is Bram in Leuven. Forty invitations, one sheet at a time is Sofia and Dan in Antwerp, on Cotton Rag. Weight is not thickness is a note by Leila Benali, and it does not add measured claims. The first three are the newer notes. Leila’s note sits behind them. We do not review other mills, and we do not rank our own packs.

What a note will and will not say

A journal note names the person, the city and the paper, and then stops. Noor’s note is about holding two envelopes to the window. It is not a test report on 120 gsm. Bram’s note is about a thesis on Everyday Bond, 80 gsm, the pack we sell at €12. Sofia and Dan’s note is about forty invitations cut from Cotton Rag, one sheet at a time. Leila’s note says weight is not thickness, which is also how we explain gsm on the weights page. You will not find dry times, opacity scores or a promise that a pen will behave. Opening hours, prices and returns stay on the shop pages, where they can be kept exact. New notes are listed here. The shop is still at 17 Papierstraat if you would rather ask at the counter.
