How often should you have a skin check?

There is no single answer. Adults with few moles and no family history of melanoma may only need a check when something changes. People with many moles, fair skin, a history of sunburn or a close relative with melanoma are usually advised to come once a year.

Between visits, look at your own skin monthly in good light and ask someone to check your back. Call us about any spot that grows, bleeds, itches or changes colour.
