College Milestones

2009

Kanjo College opened in 2009 with two evening classes dedicated to foundational ledger work and core bookkeeping principles.

2014

As working adults across Halden sought daytime study options, the college introduced structured day classes in 2014, expanding access to accountancy qualifications.

2021

In 2021, the college established its dedicated mock-paper day, giving candidates supervised, timed trial sittings ahead of official exam sessions.

Across every stage of development, the college has remained at 14 Corder Street, keeping cohort sizes capped at sixteen students per room to ensure direct, line-by-line review between lecturers and adult learners.

Founding Note from Helena Marsh

Principal Helena Marsh founded the college on the conviction that accountancy is mastered through ruled lines, deliberate calculations, and clear documentation. Rather than relying on automated software shortcuts or impersonal mass lectures, every syllabus begins with the physical mechanics of the double-entry ledger. Adult learners arrive at our Northgate campus from varied backgrounds, whether transitioning into new careers or formalising practical workplace experience. By keeping our teaching personal, transparent, and anchored in practical application, we prepare each individual to sit professional papers with clarity, sound technique, and disciplined working habits.

The building

Teaching Rooms at Corder Street

Our building at 14 Corder Street provides dedicated study spaces configured specifically for adult numeracy and professional accountancy training. Classrooms feature spacious desks suited for printed exercises, bound ledger work, and reference texts, avoiding crowded lecture theatre benches. Whiteboards are permanently ruled with accounting grids so lecturers can demonstrate working entries in full view of the class.
