Otto and the sock

Same evening

home after the endoscopy

Otto, a Labrador aged 8 months, had a swallowed sock removed by endoscopy with Dr. Tomás Ribeiro and went home the same evening.

Removed by endoscopy

Otto is a Labrador aged 8 months. He swallowed a sock and was brought to Aoba Veterinary Clinic the same day. Dr. Tomás Ribeiro, whose field is dentistry and imaging, removed the sock by endoscopy. Otto did not go through an operation that opened the abdomen. The decision was made after he was examined, and the owner had a written estimate before the procedure. Fasting instructions, when a procedure allows time for them, are given for that animal. A nurse monitored the anaesthetic, watching heart rate, breathing and temperature. Imaging is part of Dr. Ribeiro’s work, and endoscopy sat with him. A sock is one foreign body in one dog. Every animal is different. Another swallowed object may need a different plan, which is why the clinic asks you to call rather than wait and see.

Home the same evening

Otto went home the same evening, with discharge notes from the nursing team. Hannah Lindqvist leads that team. A discharge call checked the first hours, and the usual follow-up call comes within 48 hours of a visit. He was an eight-month-old dog who could travel safely that night. That timing is what happened for Otto, not a timetable we offer for every foreign body. If you think your dog or cat has swallowed something, call +1 555 0142 300 before you do anything else at home. On a weekday we keep urgent same-day slots. When the clinic is closed, the regional emergency hospital is the right place. We are open Monday to Friday, 9:00–12:30 and 15:30–19:00, and Saturday, 9:00–12:30 and 15:30–17:00. The address is 214 Alder Street, Fairhaven.
