Three chapters, all of them on J Street first.
1987: two bays and a kettle
Kenji Michida opened a two-bay service garage on J Street in Sacramento. He fixed what people brought in and wrote the price on the work order before he picked up a spanner.
1996: a showroom next door
Customers kept asking him to find them a good used car, so he rented the empty unit beside the garage, put six cars in the window and kept the same rule: tell people the truth about every one.
Today: three doors
Lena Michida-Hart now runs the business with a team that includes Marcus, Priya and Tomás. Davis opened in 2009 and Roseville in 2016, and the garage on J Street is still the heart of the place.
